Welcome! I am passionate about environmental conservation and public health and have nearly 10 years of experience in wildlife disease research, frequently at the intersection of these interests. For more information on me see my about page.
The critical links between environmental, animal, and human health are only becoming clearer with the emergence and resurgence of diseases of epidemic and pandemic proportions. These interconnections are often termed "One Health"- a holistic concept that integrates human, animal, and environmental health to better understand and mitigate disease. I am involved in research, outreach, and teaching that are part of the One Health approach, but it takes a village to successfully support the holistic One Health initiative.
A crucial aspect of my research is public engagement and science communication. Too often there is a wall up between scientists and the public, whether imagined or the tangible walls of the University. I am passionate about working to overcome these barriers and build trust and engagement between scientists and their communities >>> Read more here.
Buckle up for one "wild" ride 🦊
